Sekhmet Prayer Bead Necklace in Red Jasper: Egyptian Goddess of Healing, War, Justice and Vengeance
This set of Sekhmet prayer beads in red jasper is a long loop of 42 beads, joined by an additional bead and a pendant representing the goddess: a lion's head. Sekhmet was often depicted in art as a woman with the head of a lioness.
It is made with 6mm red jasper gemstone beads, separated by gold-toned metal spacer beads and glass seed beads to provide a comfortable transition from one bead to the next and to make the piece supple and easy to handle.
The beads are approximately 27" (68cm) in length. They are designed to be used in prayer and contemplation, but can also decorate an altar or shrine, or adorn a statue if desired. With 42 beads on the loop, they are intended to be useful as well for meditation on the Negative Confessions or Declarations of Innocence, an enumeration of the principles of ma'at (truth and order) included in many Egyptian Books of the Dead.
The beads can also be worn slipped over the head as a necklace. If you plan to wear it, please make sure a 27" (68) loop will fit easily over your head, as this piece has no clasp.
The beads come with a prayer to the goddess, a copy of the Negative Confessions, and a cotton muslin bag for storage.
You can, of course, use the beads with any prayers, or for any god or gods, that you choose or that resonate with you.
