This set of prayer beads for Loki consists of three groups of nine beads, recalling the three roots of the World Tree, Yggdrasil, and the nine worlds joined by that tree. Separating these sections are three hanging pendants, each a symbol representing the god:
Fire - In myth, Loki once participated in an eating race with an entity who turned out to be fire itself.
Horse - Loki once transformed into a mare and eventually gave birth to the incomparable eight-legged steed Sleipnir.
Fox - As a god of wit, Loki can be represented by a beast well known for its cleverness.
It is made with 10mm deep red fire-polished Czech glass beads, separated by silver-toned metal spacer beads, and glass seed beads to provide a comfortable transition from one bead to the next and to make the piece lightweight, supple, and easy to handle. The string itself is approximately 28" (63cm) in circumference and can be slipped over the head and worn if desired (keep in mind that there is no clasp, so if you plan to wear it, make sure a 28" loop will fit over your head), although it is designed to be used in prayer and meditation, to decorate an altar or shrine, and/or to adorn a statue.
The beads come with a prayer to Loki, written specifically to be used with this prayer bead design (you can, of course, use the beads with any prayers, or for any god or gods, that you choose or that resonate with you) and with a cotton muslin bag for storage.
