This set of Imhotep prayer beads in tiger eye is a long loop of 42 beads, joined by an additional bead and a pendant representing the god: a pyramid. Imhotep was the creator of the first Egyptian pyramid, the step pyramid of Djoser.

Imhotep is both a historical figure and a god, deified after his death. In life he was the advisor of the Pharaoh Djoser and the architect of his step pyramid at Saqqara. In death he became best known as a god of healing and source of great wisdom.

It is made with 6mm tiger eye gemstone beads, separated by silver-toned metal spacer beads and glass seed beads to provide a comfortable transition from one bead to the next and to make the piece supple and easy to handle.

The beads are approximately 27" (68cm) in length. They are designed to be used in prayer and contemplation, but can also decorate an altar or shrine, or adorn a statue if desired. With 42 beads on the loop, they are intended to be useful as well for meditation on the Negative Confessions or Declarations of Innocence, an enumeration of the principles of ma'at (truth and order) included in many Egyptian Books of the Dead.

The beads can also be worn slipped over the head as a necklace. If you plan to wear it, please make sure a 27" (68cm) loop will fit easily over your head, as this piece has no clasp (although it can be made with one if desired--please contact me for information on customization!)

The beads come with a prayer to Imhotep, a copy of the Negative Confessions, and a cotton muslin bag for storage.

You can, of course, use the beads with any prayers, or for any god or gods, that you choose or that resonate with you.
