New in my Shop: Prayer Beads for the Norse Gods

Today I’m introducing a new shop section and prayer bead design: pocket prayer beads for the Norse gods.

As a multi-faith polytheist*, I tend to go where I am most drawn in spiritual matters. My first pantheon was Greek, starting with Aphrodite and followed by numerous other Greek deities, all of whom I have continued to worship for over sixteen years. My second pantheon was that of the Norse gods, whom I have honored for nearly as long.

So today, after some suggestions and inspiration, I am adding a new prayer bead design and section to my shop, for the Norse gods. I am starting small, with beads for Freyja, Frey and Skadhi, but hope to add to it soon. As always, each set of beads comes with a prayer written for that deity and that prayer bead design, and with a cotton muslin bag for storage. You can, of course, use the beads with any prayers, or for any god or gods, that you choose or that resonate with you.

The Freyja beads are made with 10mm pale honey-colored fire-polished Czech glass beads, separated by gold-toned metal spacer beads, and glass seed beads to provide a comfortable transition from one bead to the next and to make the piece lightweight, supple, and easy to handle. The loop itself is approximately 9″ (22.9cm) in circumference and the pendant hangs from a 3″ (7.6cm) string. The beads are designed to be used in prayer and meditation, to decorate an altar or shrine, and/or to adorn a statue.

The Skadhi beads are made with 10mm fire-polished Czech glass beads in dark blue and crystal-clear glass with an aurora finish, separated by silver-toned metal spacer beads, and glass seed beads to provide a comfortable transition from one bead to the next and to make the piece lightweight, supple, and easy to handle. The loop itself is approximately 9.25″ (23.5cm) in circumference and the pendant hangs from a 3″ (7.6cm) string. The beads are designed to be used in prayer and meditation, to decorate an altar or shrine, and/or to adorn a statue.

* I have a complicated relationship with my practice. Not with the gods–the gods, on the whole, have always been pretty straightforward. But I keep and have always kept my practices with regard to separate pantheons, well, separate. I am pretty sure that this has more to do with me than it does with them. But my godphone is practically nonexistent, so when I do get a sense of something I try to run with it.
