My Eiresione

Here is my wildly inexpertly-crafted eiresione, made from a fallen apple branch, wound with wool I spun (also inexpertly :)) last year, with small vials of wine, olive oil and honey tied onto it.

“The eiresione brings figs and cakes,
honey golden-sweet, oil to anoint us,
and good strong wine to make us sleep.” (Traditional chant)

These pictures are terrible, artificial light and all that, but I just finished making the thing. I decided that instead of hanging the vials from the stick I would tie them on, sort of like buds on a branch. I probably wouldn’t do it that way if it were going over the front door (where they might eventually be shaken loose) but since mine is going over my altar, I figure it should work.
